Ethanol Railroad Blog Site
This site was constructed to be an educational source for the City of Alexandria. Please use it to let everyone know what questions you have as well as what you found out when you asked questions.
Use EthanolRailroad.com to keep the general information.
Awareness of the facts is the only way to make an informed decision.
Anonimity is okay in this web site as many are afraid to make decisions that might cost others money - on both sides of this struggle.
I would however ask that we keep opinions to a minimum.
Try to stick to the facts:
Government documents
Company documents
Government Agency documents
you understand
but also if someone is telling you something that creates a worry, please feel free to ask it here.
Many entities will hopefully do their due dilligence and take care of any unanswered questions.
Where do I stand? I have always been for change as long as it is done right. I believe this change is not for the greater good and still needs some work on the process itself due to undegradable Volatile Organic Chemical emissions. But also, it shows blatant disregard for the lives (not protecting or serving) of the citizens of our bedroom community. Go to www.ethanolrailroad.com to hear the zoning hearing meeting and the public meeting with Broin at Gaither Family Resources.

The ethanol plant is not a matter of the need for better solutions for America’s dependence on oil. Nor are the Alexandria residents against the growth of the city. We are however against putting a refinery next door to neighbors. I challenge everyone who says that this plant does not create detrimental pollutants to the environment to KnowTheFacts before stating misconception is all we are capable of achieving through our study of the Air Quality Permit request available to the public at the Alexandria Public Library. EthanolRailroad.com is full of facts and links that allow uninformed residents to determine for themselves whether they want the plant.
I ask each of you to decide which you treasure most: money or life.
Since 1850, my family has been in Alexandria. We would like to plan on many more generations to enjoy the peaceful country life. But as a result of the location of the plant, Alexandria may end up losing residents with children due to the probable health concerns related to the many Volatile Organic Compounds, Heavy Metals, and other pollutant factors associated with the plant.
